Survey Results Released

Today ARIEL released the results of the survey on the draft ASEAN declaration on environmental rights. The results were:

84% want a legally binding document or negotiated treaty.

82% support robust and detailed framework

About even for ASEAN Declaration on Environmental Rights v ASEAN Declaration on an Environmental Rights Framework 

96% support specific provision on environmental and human rights defenders

84% support specific provision to protected Environmental rights of children

78% support specific provision to protected Environmental rights of youth

92% support specific provision to protected Environmental rights of groups in vulnerable situations

88% support specific provision to to ensure business respect environmental rights

92% suport private sector required to observe, respect, protect and comply with environmental rights

92% support including a requirement for EHR Due Diligence and public reports

88% supported extending time for consultation until end of June.

84% support consultation with children in May or June
